Newbarns Primary School held the event in a bid to get more children interested
in science. Forest Schools Week focuses on getting pupils out of the
classroom and into the countryside. The special science day helped teach
children the way things work in the environment. Cheryl Postlethwaite,
science coordinator at Newbarns Primary School magic tricks props sale, said: “We
held the day as part of Forest Schools Week, each year group had a different
topic designed to encourage them to think about practical science. “The
children were really enthusiastic and asked a lot of questions.” The topics
ranged from bubbles to eggs, food and science. Mrs Postlethwaite said: “At
the end of the day pupils from Year 5 who had done ‘magic’ science went round
each class and performed tricks to each class who then got to have a go. “It
was absolutely fantastic the children who presented the tricks were looking at
their presentation skills but also the science behind the tricks. “The show
went down very well and it was a nice ending to the day, cheap magic tricks
chinabut children were really enthusiastic right through the day.”
